Sport Bikes

Anyone who’s into a sleek, futuristic style or who’s looking for something with raw power and agility probably wants a sport bike. These powerhouses are designed for maximum acceleration and speed potential and optimized handling and are the epitome of sleek. That isn’t just for show, either—both the chassis and the riding position these motorcycles are designed with help increase their aerodynamics. Riders typically lean forward and high footpegs bring their legs in close, stabilizing the center of gravity, while a low ground clearance further helps aerodynamics.

Touring Motorcycles

If you called sport bikes the sprinters of the motorcycle family, touring motorcycles would be the cross-country runners. These bulky models are built for endurance and long “touring” trips and have the fuel capacity and efficiency to make it happen. They’re also equipped with massive engines to keep you at the speeds you need to travel efficiently and quickly, and windshields, enhanced seating, and extra storage space all help keep you comfortable and stocked up for the journey.

Cruisers

When you picture a motorcycle in your mind, there’s a good chance you picture a cruiser of one kind or another. These stylish bikes are modeled after the motorcycle golden age of the 1950’s or so. They’re also good intermediate bikes with good handling and acceleration, plus more comfort for longer riders.

Choppers

One of two subcategories of cruiser, choppers are minimalistic thanks to the “chopped-down” look. Ape-hanger handlebars and the extended front fork give them an iconic look, and though they might be harder for beginners to control, they’re favorites of mechanics and veteran riders for their easy customization.

Power Cruiser

The other subtype of cruiser is a power cruiser. As the name implies, they’re essentially a beefier version of the cruiser with better stats like speed potential, handling, acceleration, and braking. They also look more modern and have more modern conveniences built in.

Dirt Bikes

And for those who want to explore beyond the paved roads, off-road motorcycles (or dirt bikes) are slim, tall, and durable enough to do it. They’re far lighter and have much better suspension to keep you comfortable and in control no matter the terrain.
